Machine Learning for Micromechanics - WG4 first on-site meeting

MecaNano, which stands for "European Network for the Mechanics of Matter at the Nano-Scale", is a European Cooperation in Science & Technology (COST) Action running 2022-2026. The Action is intended as a broad international cooperation aiming to advance the multiscale understanding of the mechanical behavior of nanostructured materials. By combining the expertise of its participants – from experimentalists to simulation, data management and machine learning experts – it aims to overcome the different bottlenecks limiting the exploration of mechanical size effects. MecaNano provides its members with numerous opportunities to interact and collaborate, e.g. through dedicated workshops, symposia and summer schools, or by funding the mobility between participants.

MecaNano Focus

This First Meeting for WG4 will bring together those members of the MecaNano community who either have experience with machine learning and other data driven approaches or are simply interested in these techniques and their possible applications for both experiments and modelling. The meeting also aims to bring together people who face problems that can be solved via machine learning with other MecaNano members who already posses the know-how to cultivate the formation of fruitful collaborations.

During the meeting four 1-hour selected comprehensive tutorials will be given by experienced scholars who will provide a broad overview of how to use machine learning in the framework of MecaNano and beyond, through selected research problems. These talks will be aimed at people just getting familiar with this technique. Furthermore, researchers with experience in ML will give contributed talks on their own ML-related research results.

We are looking forward to your participation! This meeting is a good opportunity to learn how ML works and to meet your counterparts within the small-scale mechanical characterization community.

We do not charge a conference fee but you must register on this website in time before the meeting.
